When Center for Social Dynamics founder and CEO Pete Pallarés was six years old, he was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD.
Since that time, he’s felt driven to be of service to people who learn differently.
In 2012, he was able to turn his passion into a business when California Senate Bill 946 (SB946) went into effect on July 1 and made treatment for autism more affordable. The bill requires that private health insurers regulated by the State of California pay for behavioral health treatment for those diagnosed with PDD/NOS or autism. In this episode, Pete opens up about how he shifted from playing professional basketball to creating a haven for children and adults on the autism spectrum.
He also shares how he and his employees move forward following mistakes. “Healthcare is a frantic industry; we move at a frantic speed,” says Pete. “When you’re moving fast, you’re going to break things. We learn a lot from those mistakes.
